Jakarta

Itinerary
Jakarta National Monument
Advice
I Recommend staying 1 night in Jakarta or just fly directly to Yogyakarta or Denpasar (Bali).
Theres not a lot to do in Jakarta its also the capital of Indonesia so the traffic there is crazy busy all the time so its impossible to get around in a taxi unless you use Grab Bike.
Taxi from Airport to Hostel cost 120,000IDR.
Yogyakarta
Stayed Near: Malioboro Shopping Street
Laura’s Backpackers 95,000IDR (6€) a night
3 Nights
- Bus from Jakarta to Yogyakarta 170,000IDR
Itinerary
Yogyakarta Sunrise Tour 140,000IDR (4am Start)
Puthuk Situmbu Hill 30,000IDR Entry Fee (Sunrise)
Borobudur Temple 350,000IDR Entry Fee
Prambanan Temple 350,000IDR Entry Fee
Advice
I Recommend staying 1/2 nights in Yogyakarta depending on what time you arrive at Yogyakarta at.
If you take the bus from Jakarta to Yogyakarta it will take 10 hours on the bus so you will be better off staying 2 nights and book the Sunrise Tour for the second morning.
If you arrive in Yogyakarta in the morning/afternoon you would be best booking the sunrise tour for the following morning.
Depending on how much time you have in Indonesia it would be worth it that after the sunrise tour in Yogyakarta you should leave directly to Mt Bromo & Ijen and get all the Sunrise Tours done 3 Mornings in a row because theres wasn't much else to do here.
Taxi from bus station to Hostel was 50,000IDR.

Mount Bromo & Ijen Crater
Stayed Near: Probolinggo
2 Nights
Itinerary
Bromo & Ijen Tour 650,000IDR
Includes 2 nights accommodation in Dorm Room and Transport.
Day 1: Mount Bromo Sunrise 320,000IDR incl Jeep
Start at 3am Finish at 9am
Day 2: Ijen Crater & Blue Fire 250,000IDR incl Gas Mask
Start at 1am Finish at 8am
Advice
I booked this tour in Laura's backpackers which included all transport to and from the volcanos and accommodation.
You arrive at your accommodation in Bromo at around 8pm and than you'll wake up at 3am to do the Bromo hike.
I recommend booking the Jeep transport to Bromo so you can watch the sunrise from the viewpoints and see the crater of the volcano after.
After Mount Bromo you get picked up from your hostel at 10am and get dropped to your accommodation in Ijen at around 5pm and you wake up at 1am to do the Ijen crater.
After Ijen you'll get picked up from your hostel at around 9am and brought to the ferry port near Bali for around 1pm.
Booked the Boat and Bus to Denpasar with the same company at the ferry port.

Canggu
Stayed Near: Canggu Town
Lay Day Hostel 150,000IDR (10€) a night
3 Nights
- Boat & Bus from Ketapang Harbour to Denpasar 100,000IDR
Itinerary
Tanah Lot Temple 30,000IDR Entrance Fee
Surfing on Canggu Beach
Nightlife
Advice
Canggu is the perfect place to go to after all the sunrise treks or after flying to Indonesia because you can really just chill out on the beach or by the pool.
Its also a really good place to party as well its like a backpackers paradise.
If you had the choice to stay between Kuta, Seminyak or Canggu I would pick Canggu you can take grabs to Seminyak or Kuta for shopping.
Do not drive a motor bike near the main roads in Kuta because there is Police check points that will scam tourists into paying a huge amount of money.
You can drive a motorbike all around Canggu without any issues.
Taxi from Bus Terminal to Hostel 100,000IDR

Banyumala Twin Waterfalls Free Entry
Handara Gate 30,000IDR Entry Fee
Ulun Danu Temple 50,000IDR Entry Fee
Nungnung Waterfall 20,000IDR Entry Fee
Advice
Ubud is another town in Bali popular to backpackers to explore Bali in full.
Theres many public tours you can book or you can even do your own private tours which you can pick where you want to go and how long you want to spend at each attraction which can be good that you're not waiting around for other people when your ready to leave but also your better off doing a private tour with a friend because it is more expensive to book solo.
You can rent motor bikes as well in Ubud and drive to the attractions yourself but everything in Bali is so spaced out that for me that it was easier to hire a driver.
We didn't explore the nightlife in Ubud a lot of the Bars/Restaurants close at 11pm but you can find some late night bars if you really look for it.

Advice
I chose to stay in Nusa Lembongan over Nusa Penida from speaking with other backpackers I've gotten mixed reviews that you can cover all of Nusa Penida in 1 day or that you could stay there for as many as 3 days and never get bored of it.
I've been to Nusa Lembongan already myself so i knew my way around the island you can also get it all done in 1 day on a motorbike as listed above and the roads here are also a lot better to drive on than the ones in Nusa Penida which are basically non existent so if you're not 100% comfortable on a motorbike your better off going to Nusa Lembongan than Penida.
There was also a lot more options for Hostels and restaurants in Lembongan and a few more ATM's as well so it was just more convenient.
We did take a trip over to Nusa Penida from Lembongan with the same tour group that we booked the snorkelling tour with.
It was 1,200,000IDR to rent the driver in Nusa Penida and the return boat back to Nusa Lembongan so we had a group of 6 people so it worked out 200,000IDR each which was really worth it.
You can do a Tour yourself to Penida on your own will cost you 500,000 to 700,000IDR so it would be better to find a few people in your hostel to book a driver with them and split the cost.

Gili Trawangan
Stayed Near: Gili T
My Mates Place 250,000IDR (16€) a night
4 Nights
- Boat from Nusa Lembongan to Gili Trawangan 450,000IDR incl Hostel Pickup
Itinerary
3 Island Snorkling Trip 100,000IDR
Paddle Boarding Tour to Gili Meno 100,000IDR
Gili T Pub Crawl 250,000IDR
Nightlife in Jungle
Advice
Gili T is the party Island of the Gili Islands theres also Gili Air which is more family friendly and Gili Meno would be the honeymoon Island.
We stayed in My Mates Place which is a social/party hostel it is quite pricey but you don't have to stay here to take part in the activities you can show up at 8pm and just join in the pre drinks and than follow the hostel to Jungle Bar every night.
The Snorkelling and Paddle Boarding tour I done was with My Mates Place and it was probably the most fun I've had on a tour just really great people and a good vibe.
Also Gili T has a huge amount of restaurants Western and Indonesian and they also have a food market in the evening with fresh fish ect.
You also see some of the most beautiful sunsets on Gili T if you walk 15 minutes down to Sunset Beach it's a great sunset every single evening.
On the islands there is no transport everything is walking distance.
Do not get on the horses in Gili T the horses are treated really badly and there hoofs would be all cracked because they don't have horseshoes on so it's really cruel.
The island is so small you can walk around or rent a push bike don't be lazy and take a horse carriage.

Advice
In Lombok I was actually sick so I didn't do anything in Lombok except rest.
But there is a lot to do in Lombok a lot of people I've met have actually said Kuta Lombok was one of there favourite places in Indonesia it's also a big surf community there as well so the Island is very chill and laid back which makes it so likeable.
You can do organised tours to the Waterfalls and the Volcano but the main reason I went to Lombok was to do the 4 Day Trip to Komodo Islands more info below.

⁃ Komodo Island
⁃ Pink Beach
Day 4 - Sleep overnight in Gili Lawa Darat
⁃ Padar Sunrise Hike
⁃ Rinca Island
⁃ Arrive in Labuan Bajo at 5pm
Advice
I booked this trip to Komodo with Wanua Adventure which does this trip every Monday Wednesday and Saturday.
It's also recommend that you book with this company because they have the best reviews and facilities and never over book where some other companies online have had reviews where they overbooked or had unexperienced staff on board.
Also book this tour minimum 1 week in advanced it sells out very quick you can book online at https://wanuaadventure.com or text the whatsapp number from the website to reserve your spot and pay at the office on the day.
Wanua really lived up to the standards that you hear online the boat is perfect size for the amount of backpackers you'd fit they also serve you 3 meals a day and its buffet size so you can take huge portions theres never not enough food to fill everyone and unlimited water.
Sleeping on the boat itself is complicated the first night was very choppy with the weather so that was tough to sleep and same with the second night it was a long trip from Moyo Island to Manta Point (20 hours non stop) so make sure you have motion sickness tablets because a few people were sick but everyone was fine the following day.
All fees for the two Komodo parks are included so you only need money for beer and snacks which you can pick up on the Komodo Islands and on pink beach theres a man with a canoe selling ice cold beer for 50k.
You can also order beer with Wanua when you check in with them for 50k a bottle so you don't need to buy drink yourself just buy a lot of snacks too keep you going for 4 days.
Another good idea would be to pack everything you need for the 4 days into a small backpack because your big bag will be under the boat for storage also pack some long pants and a jumper it can get chilly at night on the open waters and even a spare blanket would be a good idea as well.
The first two days on the boat os a lot of travelling with one or two long stops at an island but the 3rd and 4th day will be when you do the most activities and probably my two favourite days of the whole trip.

Flores
Stayed Near: Labuan Bajo
La Boheme Bajo 140,000 (9€) a night
2 Nights
- Taxi from Ferry port to Hostel 10,000IDR
Advice
I had 2 nights in Flores because I booked my flight back to Bali on the last day of my Visa expiring because i didn't know the Komodo trip was only on certain days (Mon, Wed & Sat).
So I would book a flight out of Flores back to Bali the day after your arrive in Flores so spend one night there and book your flight with Air Asia avoid Lion Air I flew with them in the morning and my flight was delayed by 3 hours where I almost missed my flight out of Bali to Malaysia because of it so be smart and don't fly twice in the same day.
But do book your flight out of Flores when you know if you're doing the Komodo trip because last minute flights can be really expensive so plan your dates for this trip.
